Welcome to Gaypride africa

Fighting Hatred & Homophobia

For over 20 years Yahya Jammeh told gay & lesbians that they were vermins, lowest of the lowest, the scum of the earth, ragamuffins, and the worst kind of creature that has ever walked the earth. He terrorised & abused people. He sent spies, police and soldiers after gay people to ruin and exterminate them. He declared that he himself will slaughter gay people like mere goats, sheep or cow.

He was the typical homnophobic tyrant, the ugliest type of Muslim you have ever encountered who feels that if he kills a gay man or Lesbian, Allah will give Him gold medals when he gets to heaven. People like him are why GayPride Africa was created. We wanted to have the media tool to fight back and to say; "Damn it! We are people too!"

Our campaign has been to ask people to leave us alone. Throughout Africa, backward looking nations like Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Uganda, Gambia and many others are full of homophopbic people. People who dislike other people and make it their business to determine who can fall in love with who and who can sleep with who. We are determined to fight homophobia wherever it rears its ugly head.
